On March 16, 2022, United Way of Kenosha County (UWKC) held its annual meeting. UWKC CEO Carolynn Friesch recognized two retiring board members, Jerry Harried and JP Moran, for six years of service to the organization. Jerry and JP guided the organization through changes and challenges while providing sound insight and advice. As a result of their leadership, the organization is ushering in a more impactful United Way.
Mr. Harried, International CFO at Uline, was a member of the UWKC’s Governance Committee. Mr. Moran is the past president and member of the Campaign Cabinet. UWKC Board members and staff are grateful that JP will continue to serve UWKC on the Campaign Cabinet as we launch our 2022 campaign and begin planning for the 100th anniversary celebration in 2023.
During the annual meeting, two new Board members were officially welcomed to the organization. Mark Holmes, CFO for LMI Packaging Solutions, Inc. and Lt. Horace Staples, MSJC, Director of Emergency Management for Kenosha Sheriff’s Department, began their three-year commitment to the Board of Directors.
Mr. Holmes relocated to the Kenosha community in late 2019. In his previous community, Mr. Holmes coached several boys and girls youth sports teams as well as spending four years on a local school board, the last two serving as school board president where he oversaw a large fundraising campaign that allowed for school expansion. In addition, Mr. Holmes strategically set the course that led to the school earning National Blue-Ribbon Status. He is anxious to get involved in his new community and help to advance the mission of the United Way.
Lt. Staples has served the Kenosha Community in numerous endeavors such as the first PTA President at the Edward Bain School of Language and Art, then Kenosha Unified PTA Council President, Kenosha Unified School District Awards Recognition Committee, United Way Community Investment Committee Member, former Board Member at Saint Joseph Catholic Academy, County Credit Union Board President, the President of the Spanish Center of Kenosha, Racine and Walworth Counties, Past President the Parish Pastoral Council at St. Mark Catholic Church, and a twenty-six-year volunteer, for the Torch Run for Special Olympics Wisconsin.
