Before we wish you all, "Happy Holidays!", United Way of Kenosha County (UWKC) would like to thank our generous donors, partners, and volunteers for their support throughout the year. Because of you, we were able to once again touch the lives of thousands of individuals and families across our area. Your support enabled us to accomplish many things. Here are a few highlights from the year:
-
Through our Community Investment program, UWKC invested in 16 nonprofit agencies across Kenosha County.
-
In conjunction with the annual Read Across Kenosha event, over 260 books were donated to classrooms in the Kenosha Unified School District.
-
Two Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers were recognized by Peter Barca, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Revenue, for their outstanding service.
-
In partnership with The Mary Lou & Arthur F. Mahone Fund, Herzing University, and Snap-on Incorporated, UWKC launched Building Unity in CommUNITY: Kenosha’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Workshop.
-
After a two-year, pandemic-drive hiatus, Readers Are Leaders participants and tutors celebrated the completion of 365 hours of reading.
-
The 2022 Celebrate United Awards were presented to Festival Foods, Birchwood Foods/Kenosha Beef International, BeLeaf Survivors, Inc., and Bill Roberts.
-
With the help from Leadership Kenosha, 356 Small Business Circle was launched to provide small businesses with an option to make a big impact in the community.
The tradition of mobilizing the caring power of our community continues into the new year and will be even bigger in 2023 as we invite you to join us in the celebration of 100 years of Living United in Kenosha County. We look forward to announcing a community-wide day of service, a centennial celebration, and much more.
From all of us at United Way of Kenosha County, thank you for investing in our community!
