May 8, 2024 (Kenosha, WI) — United Way of Kenosha County (UWKC), Unify Voice, Amplify Impact, is celebrating its Day of Caring on Saturday, June 1. Volunteers from across Kenosha County are invited to come together in service to our community.

The day will begin at 7:45 a.m. with a reception and program at Roosevelt Elementary (3322 Roosevelt Rd.). During the program, UWKC will recognize its 2024 Celebrate United Award winners and bring awareness to volunteer opportunities in our area. Afterwards, volunteers will travel to a United Way Community Investment partner agency, school, or other community partner to complete a 1-day service project.

Volunteers gathered at KTEC for the 2023 Day of Service on Saturday, April 1, 2023. United Way of Kenosha County is proud to be inviting individuals and families to join in on another County-wide day of service.

“I believe volunteering is super important for the community to show that it’s not just about us, it’s about helping other people and loving each other,” says Robert Moore, UWKC board member and volunteer and owner of 4D Business Group. “Join me at Day of Caring on Saturday, June 1!”

Service projects are available from 16 agencies in the Kenosha area. Projects range from organizing donations and books, fundraising activities, and office cleaning, to outdoor projects (weather dependent) like painting a sensory playground and gardening. Projects are available for all ages, and the event is a great opportunity for families to come out and volunteer in our community. Volunteers can register via the UWKC website. Information should be submitted by Monday, May 13 to guarantee receiving an event t-shirt.

“Kenosha Unified and Roosevelt Elementary School are thrilled to partner with United Way to host the 2024 Day of Caring kick-off event,” says, Jered Kotarak, Principal at Roosevelt Elementary School. “This event embodies the importance of continuing to build strong community connections and fostering collaboration to achieve more than we could individually as a community. Working together with over 200 volunteers from the community, we can create meaningful change and uplift our great city of Kenosha.”

Last year, at 100 Years, 100 Volunteers: A Day of Service, more than 150 volunteers came together to complete service projects and kick off the organization’s legendary 100th anniversary. This year, UWKC’s goal is to bring together 200 volunteers.

“United Way of Kenosha County is thrilled that recent volunteer activities have been met with positive energy and support from the community,” says Carolynn Friesch, Chief Executive Officer at UWKC. "June 1 is going to be a joyous day of service, and none of this would be possible without the help of local volunteers and community partners. We appreciate your involvement in helping to solve local unmet needs. We are also excited to recognize and thank our partners for their ongoing support as well as to formally announce our 2024 Celebrate UNITED award winners.”

During the event kick off, UWKC will recognize its 2024 Celebrate UNITED award winners, which includes:
