Have you ever met the human form of sunshine? At United Way of Kenosha County (UWKC) we know that’s Hope Posley! Today, we would like to introduce you to Hope, who serves as UWKC’s Collegiate Ambassador and who lives UNITED by the ways in which she inspires students to get involved in our local community.
Hope Inspires Students
Hope first joined the United Way of Kenosha County team in December 2022. Today, Hope is currently a senior at Carthage College and has just a couple months left until graduation. She continues to help coordinate service nights and complete other projects on top of finishing her senior thesis and preparing for post-grad life.
Some of Hope’s primary responsibilities as UWKC’s Collegiate Ambassador include interviewing and writing blogs (just like this one!) to showcase donors, community service leaders, and other community members. In addition to putting her writing skills to work, Hope also helps engage college students with our mission by hosting service nights such as the Readers Are Leaders Summer Slide Packing Night.
From holding a book drive on campus, to sorting children’s books and packing them up, to preparing for special events, we are grateful that Hope helps inspire the Carthage College community to get involved in initiatives such as Readers Are Leaders, our recent Centennial Jubilee, and everything in between.
Recently, Hope even coordinated fellow Resident Assistants (RAs) to host floor programs where students completed volunteer projects benefitting Women and Children’s Horizons and Hope Council. Projects included preparing hygiene and Narcan kits to be distributed to community members.
Of course, Hope has starred in many of our TikToks too, helping to raise awareness about Volunteer Kenosha and our organization overall by asking students about their recent volunteer opportunities as well as the ever so critical question: #DoYouKnowUnitedWay?
Hope is a Chicago native but has enjoyed the opportunity to get to know Kenosha and its local nonprofits. She is a double Major in Psychology and Theatre, and one of her career goals is to become a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, so that one day she can even open her own private practice. After graduation in May, Hope has her eyes set on moving abroad to France or England to complete grad school.
Outside of work and school, Hope enjoys spending time with her family and friends, writing, listening to music, and reading. She is even a self-published author of two books available for purchase on Amazon, including A Flower In The Garden (Poems Of A College Student).
The Collegiate Ambassador Experience
Throughout her experience, Hope has enjoyed the warm, friendly environment of United Way of Kenosha County and has loved getting to know the team. She loves uplifting others and spreading happy, positive energy.
“I want to inspire others to create happiness and peace in every day,” says Hope Posley, collegiate ambassador at United Way of Kenosha County. “Every individual is different so find what makes you happy and what makes you stand out. Love God, love yourself, and love others.”
See what we mean? Hope Posley is sunshine in human form! Thank you for your contributions to United Way of Kenosha County, Hope! Our team wouldn’t be as bright without you.
The collegiate ambassador position developed out of a need to further our organization’s engagement with students. For students, it is crucial to engage with nonprofits as it fosters a sense of social responsibility and cultivates future leaders who are committed to addressing societal challenges. But from our perspective, their involvement not only provides invaluable support but also brings fresh perspectives, skills, and innovative ideas, enriching our mission and impact.
